16/06/19 - 3rd club competition results - Claerwen Shield
1st Lynn Evans
2nd John Felton
3rd David Davies
Heaviest fish - John Felton
Best Specimen - Ian Lewis
Lots of small fish caught, but with the Coch-y-bonddu beetle failing to show up the bigger fish kept their heads down. 9 anglers caught 23 fish. Best flies were Montana nymph, Kate McLaren, Black Pennell, Zulu, Diawl Bach fished on Floating and Midge tip lines. An Otter was spotted in the reservoir and appeared to be doing better than most. Congratulations to Lynn Evans on winning the Claerwen Shield.
Llyngwyn Fly Fishing Beginners Day - We will be holding another free beginners day at 4pm on saturday June 29th at Llyngwyn. It would be great to see those who came to the last beginners day, plus anybody else keen to have a go at fly fishing. Please let us know if you wish to attend so we have an idea of numbers.
Sunday the 16th of June is the date of this year's Claerwen Shield. The date is picked each year to hopefully coincide with the emergence of the Coch-y-bonddu beetle which get the trout rising. Everyone is welcome and if you would like to join the competition we meet up at 9am at the dam wall and head off at 10am. Completion finishes at 5pm and we meet up a The Elan Hotel, Rhayader no later than 5.30pm for the weigh in.
